Does Ferrari own Lamborghini?
In the late ’70s Lamborghini introduced the now-famous Audi Sport Coupes and soon after, the Audi Sport Quattro S model. During this time, the brand of Lamborghini did not yet own a vehicle in the high-performance category of performance vehicles. What they did, however, was to create the Gallardo company and produce an Italian sports car, which used Lamborghini parts. Since the company already had a name for its Italian car, it made sense that they should have a name for their new automobile as well. When Lamborghini created its Audi Sport Quattro S model, it was named Lamborghini Testarossa, which translates literally to “limited editions.”
The model was a limited edition, meaning only the owner of the car was allowed to drive it; therefore, only owners of Lamborghini Testarossa would be able to drive it. Later on, in 1990, Lamborghini introduced another model, the LPTV; which stands for LPV; which means “limited vinyl models.” Since it was also intended for use by a limited number of customers, the name has been changed to LPV and has been used ever since. In recent years, Lamborghini has again attempted to produce an automobile for this name, called the LPV-12, but this automobile was never released. Therefore, even though Lamborghini has created a model for the past two decades, the company does not own a car currently for sale in the high-performance vehicle category.
You might be wondering, does Ferrari own Lamborghini? Well, according to one of Bill Koenig’s patent papers, the company does have a tractor model on its roster. So, you may see a special race car or an exotic luxury automobile on your favorite auto racing program, but that is it, because the company has not yet released a model that is classified as a high-performance automobile.
Who owns Maserati now?
For the past three years, Maserati has owned a supercar called the Maserati Performante, it was a limited production car made for the Italian car magazine Auto Magazine and sold to selected dealers around the globe. The car was a huge flop mainly because it lacked an automatic transmission and even though it was equipped with the rear window sticker from a real live rear seat passenger was not included. The performance supercar has been in the making for a long time now and it’s the only non-production model to feature an automatic transmission. Maserati has changed the name of the superior to the Maserati Performance. It has also given it a new name: the Lamborghini Suzio. The supercar was made for this year’s model year, which is called 2007.
Now the Maserati Performante can be seen on the streets of the Fashion Week in Milan and has even received its own exhibit at the Como Exposition in Italy. Check out a cool video by the YouTube channel about the supercar, the voiceover guy says it was designed by Mauro Costanelli who is head of the Lamborghini division. According to the website, it was conceived when Mauro decided to design a car that would challenge the supercars of Ferrari, Jaguar, BMW, and Mercedes, but he failed to achieve this goal. Instead, he wanted to make a vehicle that would look similar to another company’s brand, but have the performance of a Lamborghini.
